An experienced superintendent, Michael Kohlhagen led Wethersfield Public Schools in Connecticut for almost three years. During his tenure, he represented the Board of Education and worked to implement the group’s goals, vision, and mission. Michael Kohlhagen’s efforts proved fruitful: He improved the school district’s ranking among similarly sized communities in a state publication, enhanced the district’s financial management and capital improvement, and succeeded in raising students’ test scores in multiple subjects. Previously, Michael Kohlhagen served as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction for the Port Chester-Rye Union Free School District in New York. During his six and a half years in the role, he initiated curriculum mapping and data warehousing projects, researched a teacher evaluation tool, and strengthened numerous academic programs. He oversaw assessments, instructional technology, special education, and curriculum and instruction areas. Michael Kohlhagen began his educational career in New York City, where he contributed as a School District Administrator and Director. He started as a social worker and assumed roles of increasing responsibility. He completed his term with the district as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services. In his next post, he became Assistant Superintendent for Hartford Public Schools in Connecticut. For several years, he held full responsibility for student support services, including psychological services, special education, guidance, attendance, and family resource centers, among others. A graduate of The College of New Rochelle in New York, Michael Kohlhagen studied psychology as an undergraduate. Subsequently, he enrolled at Fordham University to earn his Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. Presently, Michael Kohlhagen conducts research toward his Doctor of Education from Columbia University.
